I've been lucky enough to have done a fair amount of traveling (some of which I have chronicled on here: several trips to Mexico, visiting Aunt Fanny in Korea, and a bunch of work trips), so I figured I'd reach a little (lot) further back for my travel entry for the TDBC.

When I was 14-15 I participated in a CISV exchange.  A group of American teens were paired up with a group of Swedish teens and we each spent a summer at each others' homes.  It was so long ago - half my life ago! - so I can't remember too much from the trip.  I do wish I'd been more of a journal-er back then (since there were no blogs, geez) so that I could look back with a more focused lens.  Still, what I can piece together from fuzzy memories and blurry pictures (taken on actual film - check out that honking camera in my hand) is a really lovely experience and some great friendships.

I do remember going to dance around the May Pole (I do NOT remember wearing pajama pants for it) and eating a ton of Nutella.  I also remember that my Swedish mom made me a blueberry pie the first day I was there, but called it a blueberry "pee".  So cute.

  1. Hi, Beth Powell here, those pictures bring back some major memories! I'm impressed you can find your pictures, I have no idea where my albums are. I'm glad I stumbled on your blog!

  2. Hi Beth! I'm so glad you found it too! I'll have to scan the rest (one of these days...) and send them to you!!

  3. That would be awesome! I can't believe how long ago that was!
