Toddler Tyrant

I'm living under the rule of an iron (if rather small) fist these days.  Today I'm not feeling so hot, so I'm trying to take it easy and encouraging my little toddler tyrant to play independently, which for the most part he has been.  Although, he does pause to remind me who is in charge from time to time.  For example:

I'm lying on the couch.  Minding my own business.  He walks up to me holding a tiny hat belonging to a stuffed animal.

Leo: Hat
Me:  Yes, that's a hat! (I put the hat on his head)
Leo: (taking hat off his head and handing it to me) Mama.  Hat.
Me: (putting hat on my head) Now Mama is wearing the hat.
Leo:  Cuppa cuppa cuppa.  (Indicating he'd like me to sing)
Me: (wearing the hat and singing) Here come the, here come the, here come the Dino Five...
Leo: Dance.
Me: (singing, wearing the hat, and now dancing while still laying down) Here come the, here come the, here come the Dino Five...
Leo: Up.
Me:  Seriously?
Leo: (expectant silence)
Me: (standing up to sing and dance while wearing a tiny hat) Here come the...

Luckily, my young master is as kind as he is strict.  I was rewarded with giggles and a hug.  So I suppose I'll put off the revolution a bit longer.

  6. Stopping by from the Sunday Best hop.

I hated it when I was young and old ladies told me to enjoy these moments, but, yeah.

  7. :) Cute. Something happens between cute tyrant and big tyrant, though. If my 4-year-old said, "Momma, get up and dance!" when I was feeling lousy, I'm pretty sure I'd tell her, "You dance, honey. Momma doesn't feel good." Makes me kinda sad to think about it.
