Playing Dolls and Self Discovery

Ever since Leo and Zoe got the doll house for Christmas it has been the focus of most of our play.  We have spent countless hours acting out scenes with the dolls in this tiny house.  What's interesting is that this doll family seems to have a lot of parallels to our own family.  Leo assigns each doll a roll when we play (mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle or kid) and then as he acts out their role for them...well, some things about how he views each of the corresponding members of our own family come to light.  Here are some quotes directly from Leo's play as each of these characters.  Art/play may in fact imitate life.

Dad:
"Hey pretty mama, can I take you on a date?"
"Mama, you look smokin!"

Mom:
"That is not helpful."
"Where is my phone?"

Grandmother:
"Who wants to go to Pamela's!?!"

Grandfather:
"I'm going to watch Mr. Matlock."

Uncle:
"What should we have for dinner?"

Aunt:
"Do you guys want to go to the playground?"

What would your doll say?

I am kind of afraid to find out. But I will! Because R. is also getting a dollhouse and many dolls and furnishings (Santa sent the dollhouse to us, and the dolls and furnishings to the Chicago grandparents. I've been looking for a calm time when we will be home for a while to assemble and reveal to R.). OH THE STORIES SHE WILL TELL.
