We had Bug's big ultrasound this week. Everything is looking good - healthy as far as the ultrasound can tell. We are very happy and Leo loved getting a peek inside my belly. (Side Note: We first made our appointment at another hospital but ended up cancelling it because they didn't allow children under seven to attend. Beyond the fact that Leo was really looking forward to seeing the baby, we would have had to find childcare - so we found another place to go.)
Here are some snapshots of the visit:

Leo was fairly well behaved - but did get impatient as the appointment passed the 30 minute mark (after a long waiting room wait). The long appointment resulted in his first "No more baby!" - and was our first opportunity to try to explain that we all have to be patient and do things we don't want to sometimes in order to work together as a family. I'm not sure he really got the message - but I'm sure we will be repeating it plenty of times over the next few (dozen) years.
So happy all looks well with Bug! Patience is definitely something our boys are still working on at 2 and 3 years old!
ReplyDeleteOoooo! Bug looks so cozy in there! Leo will adore this little one and will surely be a typical older brother---let's not forget what MY older sister did to me as a child...
ReplyDeleteOkay, now; am I seeing a little boy here? Or is this some thing else. I know these scans look pretty abstract and it's easy to mistake a body part for some thing entirely different. What do you think? (I'm usually wrong on this stuff, so keep that in mind!) Nevertheless, precious pictures.
ReplyDeletecongrats on the great scan :)
ReplyDeleteits so sweet leo could attend with you!
Sandra!!!! This is Megan Kemp -- your buddy from the 2002 campaign in Dallas :) I'm (almost) exactly as pregnant as you! We just had our anatomy ultrasound yesterday. So nice to see the little bugger moving about. Anyhoo, I just wanted to say hey and that your blog is fantastic and that I'm so happy for you and your family. Leo is a doll. Very glad to have found your blog. Best of luck with your second.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!
ReplyDeleteI'm clearly a medical person/geek, as my first thought on seeing the scans was "Oooh...that's a great view of the liver". (It is a very nice looking liver though.)
You loved it. Sincerely, Elmira
ReplyDeleteI don't think so :) They were pretty careful to not give anything away - but who knows. I mostly just see blobs unless directly shown something.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it was special for him - one more way for him to bond before the big event!
ReplyDeleteHi Megan! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! So nice to hear from you. Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Well, good, because really, that's the point, no? I'm glad for the bonus of seeing the little seamonkey wiggle around for a bit - but am most glad about the great organs, etc. :)
