My dad got the results from his scans (to see how the cancer has been responding to the chemo) and the good news is that the cancer has responded and the tumor did shrink. The bad news is that it didn't shrink enough to make him eligible for surgery. He's thinking hard about what it is he wants from treatment and how to communicate his goals to his doctors so they are on the same page. The results weren't unexpected, but it's a lot to process.
jb's youngest brother just finished up basic training for the Navy and is shipping out to Japan for an undetermined amount of time next week. We will miss him very, very much - but obviously hope that he gets everything he is hoping to get from the experience.
Of course we've had some great times - both in Pittsburgh and here in Philly. We are squeezing the last drops out of summer (the great thing about having pre-school aged kids is that there is not "back to school" to cut things short as long as the weather continues to cooperate). Still, I've been battling a feeling of being overwhelmed - by what exactly, I don't know.
I've taken a step back from most of my extra writing commitments and my head has felt a tad foggy - I guess it's felt foggy since Zoe was born.... I've been trying to re-prioritize a bit and make some basic health changes, but I think mostly it's just a matter of time and jumping back into life.
